Product Description

Among all of human inventions, the large slow cookers are one of the greatest inventions ever created. The reason to this is its functionality when it talks about easy and convenient cooking mediums. If product usability and functionality will be the topic of a certain conversation then slow cookers will always be on the list.

To be specific, slow cookers are used in preparing and cooking wide array of foods through the use of pure and consistent heat coming from the built-in heater of the slow cooker. The great thing there is that you can cook foods even without the use of fire.

With the help of the slow cookers, tenderizing large parts of meat is now made easy. This is unlike the previous mediums wherein you greatly need to use fire just to make your cooked meats tender. Although it may seem to take a longer period to cook the food, you will have the chance to take certain control on your cooking plus the chance to add more ingredients or seasonings easily.

If you have plans in buying certain large slow cookers for sale then it is significant for you to know certain specifications and features that you must consider prior to purchasing preferred slow cookers.

I attempted to buy this item after seeing it at Costco in the past, but stopped myself on at least two occasions. The reason is that I once purchased a crock pot in college, can't even remember which model, and it performed horribly. I burned a few dishes in that one and threw it out -- what a waste of money!
This time, I had a $10 off coupon for the this particular crock pot (sold at Costco in Stainless Steel as a set that comes with the Little Dipper) which brought the price down from [...].

I've used it about once a week since purchasing it. My first couple of attempts turned out ok but then I started to "get it."

1. Beef Stew -- ok. My mistake for not adding enough liquid. My only liquid was red wine and the dish came out a bit dry.
2. Chili - ok. I didn't add enough ground meat and too much kidney bean. The spice and flavoring came out ok.
3. Beef Stew - awesome! My husband started out by cubing the chuck roast (3 lbs of it) and sauteeing that with some onions and spices. That went into the pot with cubed potatoes and carrots and some red wine a equal parts water. About 4 hours later, I thought it was a bit dry so I came up with a slurry for moisture (and added flavor): 1 can of tomato paste, 1 cup of red wine, a few dashes of worcestershire sauce, 2 T of chicken consomme powder (bouillion). I mixed this in a pan and heated it up and then poured the mixture over the beef stew in the crock pot. I let the stew cook for another 2 hours. It came out perfect.

I've read about some overheating problems and boiling over. I don't see that happening with this unit unless I put too little food/fluid in it. I would personally always try to fill it at least 1/3 and, even better, 1/2 way. The instructions indicate that it should not be more than 2/3 full. If you are having any overheating problems, go ahead and return the item and get another one to try. You may have received a defective one. I am reading reviews that are either hit or miss here.
Works for me

I saw a lot of people saying this crock pot cooks way too hot. I have not had this problem at all. I use it almost all the time and my food turns out great. It works fine for me. Easy to use and easy to clean.
Works well for me

I was surprised by the above reviews about this crockpot cooking on too high a temperature. I have not had this problem at all. I made a beef stew, chicken stew, and pulled pork with this slow cooker so far. I always use the 10-hour low setting because I work all day. These meals have come out just fine every time. Maybe I have a newer version (I just got this as a gift in October 2007)? Anyway, this slow cooker has worked very well for me and I have had no problems at all.
One Hell of a Crock

I have had this crock pot for over a year and absolutely love it. I have used it for quiet slow cooked dinners at home and well as using it for self-serving during gatherings in my home. It looks great, it works very well and it's extremely easy to clean. I highly recommend it.
Works great!!!

I'm not sure why other people are having such troubles with their slow cooker. Maybe they aren't putting enough in it? Things will get done too fast or cook too hot if you don't have it 2/3 full. I've personally got nothing but positive things to say about this crockpot. Love that it switches to warm automatically. After using an oval cooker I will never go back to a round one again! Fits weird sized roasts and chickens so easily. There's none of that shoving things down just to try and fit it inside like you get with a round pot.

A slow cooker, or Crock-Pot (a trademark that is often used generically in the USA), or Slo-Cooker (a trade mark that is often used generically in the UK), is a countertop electrical cooking appliance that maintains a relatively low temperature (compared to other cooking methods like baking, boiling, and frying) for many hours, allowing unattended cooking of pot roast, stew, and other suitable dishes.
